NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 47-year-old man was found deceased inside his Madison apartment after it caught fire Saturday.

Around 5 p.m., heavy smoke started coming from a small apartment in the 200 block of East Old Hickory Boulevard.

According to a release, a resident from a nearby apartment ran into the burning building twice. That person also tried to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher but was unable to fully put it out.

He reportedly told investigators the resident inside appeared to have already been deceased when he went in the apartment.

After putting out the fire, firefighters found several oxygen tanks inside the home; however, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
