NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – One person was killed in a stabbing south of downtown Nashville early Saturday morning.
It happened in the J.C. Napier Housing Development on Charles E. Davis Boulevard just after 3 a.m.
According to Metro police, Derrick Hampton, 48, got into an argument with an acquaintance and then stabbed him.
The victim, 60-year-old Jessie Clay, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
Authorities later found Hampton at his Charles E. Davis Boulevard apartment where he reportedly admitted to the stabbing. Police also say they found a knife in the home.
Hampton has been charged with criminal homicide and remains jailed on $500,000 bond.
