NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A mother was arrested for child neglect after Metro officers found her three young children alone in a home while attempting to serve a warrant.

Officers went to the home in the Tony Sudekum Apartments on Carroll Street around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday night.

Metro police reported 27-year-old Lashay Graham’s 6-year-old answered the door while crying and told officers she and her siblings were alone in the home.

Officers reportedly found a 1-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl alone in an upstairs bedroom.

The 6-year-old told police her mother had been gone for an hour and leaves the children “all the time” but was not normally gone this long, according to an affidavit.

While officers waited for the Department of Children’s Services to arrive, Graham returned to the home around 12:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

It is unknown exactly how long the children were left alone in the home.

The children were placed with their biological father as Graham was taken into custody.

Graham was booked into the Metro jail and charged with three counts of child neglect of a child under 8 and driving on a revoked license. Her bond was set at $16,000.
