NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man has been found guilty for shooting a Madison woman in the face last year.
Robert Ward was convicted Thursday of attempted first degree premeditated murder with serious bodily injury. He was also found guilty for violating the “crooks with guns” law.
In March of 2015, he shot Valerie Carter, also known as Valerie Robinson, in the face, damaging her jaw, esophagus, and vertebrae, where the bullet is still lodged.
Carter ultimately had one of her lungs removed because the damage to her esophagus caused her to repeatedly contract pneumonia.
According to a news release, she is still having health concerns more than a year after the shooting.
Ward faces 15 to 25 years at 85 percent for the attempted murder charge and will likely receive the mandatory 10 years at 100 percent for the “crooks with guns” violation.
His sentencing date has been set for Dec. 7.
