Police: 2 injured in gunfight south of downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two men were injured when Metro police say they got into an argument that resulted in a gunfight in south of downtown Nashville late Tuesday night.

It happened on First Avenue South near University Court around 11:30 p.m.

Metro police told News 2 during the argument, one man ran from the scene to get a gun, came back and began shooting.

The other man involved returned fire and both men were struck.

One was hit in the leg and the other was struck in the back.

Both men were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Metro police did not release what, if any, charges both men could face.
