RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two rival high schools in Rutherford County will come together to honor a fallen Blue Angels pilot.

Before Stewarts Creek and La Vergne High School play in Friday night’s football game, they’ll stop to remember Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss.

He died in June when his F/A-18 Hornet went down while the Blue Angels practiced for the Great Tennessee Air Show.

Kuss left behind a wife and two small children.

Stewarts Creek’s teacher and coach Todd Harris had the opportunity to fly with the Blue Angels the day before the crash. He told News 2 the Marines contacted him about having a special event since it’s Marine Week in Nashville.

In addition to honoring Capt. Kuss, active service members and Marines will get into the game for free.
