Man shot in stomach during La Vergne home invasion

La Vergne, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was shot in the stomach during a home invasion in La Vergne early Thursday morning.

It happened in the 700 block of Farmingdale Drive around 5 a.m.

Detectives on the scene told News 2 there were five people, including two children, in the home when they awoke to the sound of the front door being kicked in.

A woman inside the home went to use the restroom while the victim went to the front of the house, according to officials.

The woman reportedly heard screaming and yelling, followed by a gunshot. She found the victim lying on the floor with one gunshot wound to the abdomen.

La Vergne officials told News 2 the victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.

No additional information or suspect description was immediately released.
