Former THP trooper charged with solicitation of statutory rape

CAROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) –A former Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper is accused of trying to solicit sexual contact from a teenager.

According to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, authorities started investigating 45-year-old David Rorer on June 3.

They reportedly learned that Rorer made inappropriate statements to an underage girl in an attempt to initiate a sexual relationship with her.

On Tuesday, the Carroll County Grand Jury returned an indictment, charging him with one count of solicitation of statutory rape.

Rorer was booked into the Carroll County Jail on $1,000 bond.

He is no longer employed with the THP.
