JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman accused of embezzling money from an attorney’s office that she worked at has turned herself into authorities.

Emilee Howard is now charged with one count of theft over $250,000, two counts of theft over $10,000 and one count of theft over $1,000.

According to a release, special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating Howard in February.

During the course of the investigation, the TBI says it developed information that Howard, an administrative assistant for an attorney, was responsible for stealing more than $300,000 from the law office over a five year period.

Howard no longer works for the law office.

The 31-year-old turned herself in and was booked into the Carter County jail on a $50,000 bond.
