BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) – The federal government is suing a local nursing home company for allegedly submitting false Medicare and TennCare claims.

The lawsuit targets Vanguard Healthcare, which is headquartered in Brentwood.

According to the suit, the false claims were allegedly filed at facilities in Murfreesboro, Nashville, Shelbyville, Manchester, Madison, and Memphis.

The suit also claims several facilities failed to provide “the most basic and essential skilled nursing services to their residents.”

It states some of them suffered from “suffered pressure ulcers, falls, dehydration, and malnutrition, among other harms.”

“We are committed to combating elderly abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. We will continue to hold accountable those who profit from the care of elderly Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, including nursing home operators, while providing non-existent or grossly substandard care.” said U.S. Attorney David Rivera.
