COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WKRN) – The man accused of killing a 20-year-old mother in front of her two young children last week is now in jail after being released from the hospital.
According to Sheriff Bucky Rowland, Darrnell Wiggins has been charged with criminal homicide, three counts of aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated assault.
He is accused of stabbing Lacy Kelley to death last week after a domestic dispute.
Kelley leaves behind two children, ages 2 and 4. Both witnessed the incident, but neither was injured. They are now in the care of family members.
Wiggins had been hospitalized since last week’s deadly stabbing. Police believe he may have stabbed himself during the attack.
Kelley’s funeral was held on Tuesday. According to her obituary, she worked at General Motors.
