NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to cross Interstate 40 near north Nashville Saturday night.
It happened near 28th Avenue North around 10:30 p.m.
Metro police say 61-year-old William Ladson, of Nashville, was crossing the roadway near the exit ramp when he was hit by a Honda Accord.
The roadway was closed for nearly five hours while officials investigated the crash.
The driver, Clarence Moore, 57, stopped immediately after hitting Ladson. According to police, he was not impaired and did not appear to be speeding.
He was, however, charged with driving on a suspended license and failure to provide proof of insurance.
