OAKLAND, Calif.(WKRN) – They called it a dress rehearsal, and in the most important game of the preseason the Titans played their best game thus far.
Marcus Mariota went 9-16 for 170 yards and led the Titans to a score on all 4 drives in the first half.
Rookie Wide Receiver Tajae Sharpe had one catch for 61 yards that set up DeMarco Murray’s 2-yard touchdown run for an early 7-0 Titans lead.
The Defense faltered again giving up a touchdown on the opening drive for the third straight week as Derek Carr tied the game with a TD pass to DeAndre Washington.
After the Titans kicked back to back field goals to lead 13-7, the Raiders took their first lead of the game as Carr hit Amare Cooper for a 29 yard touchdown and a 14-13 lead.
The Titans ended the half on a positive note as Derrick Henry scored a 3-yard touchdown to give the Titans a 20-14 lead at halftime.
In the second half, defense was the name of the game as linebacker Sean Spence forced a fumble on a big hit to DeAndre Washington and David Bass scooped it up to score a touchdown and give the Titans a 27-14 lead.
The Titans defense continued its dominance forcing two more interceptions by Kalan Reed and Cody Riggs to completely shut out the Raiders in the second half.
With the 27-14 win, the Titans move to 2-1 in the preseason.
They will play their final preseason game against the Miami Dolphins Thursday night in Florida, which you can watch on News 2.
