WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (WKRN) – Sunday was supposed to be a big day for the Goodlettsville All-Stars as they faced their second opponent in the Little League World Series. However, all games for the day have been suspended due to the weather.

The director for the Little League International Tournament Patrick Wilson released the following statement about the suspension:

“Due to extremely poor outfield conditions along with a substantial amount of water on the Little League International complex, we believe that the conditions for both the players on the field and the thousands of fans who come to enjoy the Little League Baseball World Series would be unsafe conditions,” said Wilson.

“We believe it’s in the best interest of all teams scheduled to play today and their fans to move all of today’s games to Monday, Aug. 22 and reschedule the rest of the tournament accordingly,” he continued.

The Goodlettsville All-Stars, who are the Southern Regional champions, will now face the Mid-Atlantic Regional champs Maine-Endwell, New York, at 2 p.m. Monday.

Maine-Endwell is the closest of this year’s teams to Williamsport and drew a crowd of over 10,000 to their game Thursday at Lamade Stadium.

The All-Stars beat the team from Bend, Oregon, Thursday night with a walk-off double in the sixth inning.
