NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A mother was arrested after she allegedly left two children in a car while she drank inside a West End bar.

It happened at Corner Bar on Elliston Place early Friday morning.

According to an affidavit, an officer spotted a parked car with two children asleep in the back seat.

Witnesses told police two adults had left the car and gone inside the bar an hour before the children were found.

The mother of one of the children, 32-year-old Angelina Buchanan, reportedly returned to the car smelling of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet, according to police.

Metro police reported Buchanan was not cooperative when questioned but admitted that an 8-year-old girl in the car was her daughter.

Buchanan was booked into the Metro jail and charged with child neglect, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication. Her bond was set at $16,000.

It is not clear who was responsible for the second child.

No additional information was released.
