NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Nashville Fire Department said Hickman Elementary School caught fire Tuesday evening, and lightning is possibly to blame.
It was reported just after 6 p.m. on Stewarts Ferry Pike.
A school custodian evacuated the building where a YMCA after-school program was taking place.
Fire officials said the flames were put out less than 10 minutes later, but smoke and water damage remained. Injuries were not reported.
Metro Schools spokesman Joe Bass told News 2 the damage is isolated and can likely be fixed overnight. School will resume as usual.
