NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Titans cancelled their Saturday night scrimmage at Nissan Stadium because of the weather.
Heavy rain came through Nashville, delaying and eventually leading to the cancellation.
This would have been the team’s first scrimmage of the 2016 season.
The scrimmage is useful for both players and coaches. It gives rookies a chance to step on the field at Nissan Stadium and allows new coaches to get a feel for what game days are like.
“We’ll do a pre-game warm up, not exactly the time frame of when they’ll come in and out, but for the most part we’ll get a good dry run of it,” explained head coach Mike Mularkey.
“For the new coaches, we’ll be up in the box. We will use new communication belts that the NFL is using, so we’ll be on both sidelines so we’re going to try to again. I’ll be on the field, I’ll be from behind for the most part. We’re going to try to get ready for a game,” said Mularkey.
The Titans will host the San Diego Chargers next Saturday for the first preseason game. The matchup will air on News 2.
