Man robs Knoxville gas station, forces clerks into cooler

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – A man who said he had a gun robbed a gas station north of Knoxville early Monday morning and the Knox County sheriff’s office is searching for a suspect.

Deputies say the man said he had a gun and demanded money from the safe at Weigel’s at the intersection of Highway 131 and Highway 331 around 5 a.m. The suspect took the money, forced the clerks into a cooler and ran out the back door.

He is described as a white male, around 5’11” to 6 feet tall, around 200 pounds with an average build. Anyone with information is asked to call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (965) 215-2243.
