LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Neighbors across Middle Tennessee will enjoy a night out to celebrate community and safety at National Night Out.
Residents in La Vergne told News 2 their streets had gotten dangerous a few years ago. By banding together and getting to know each other, neighbors say the community has improved.
“You can tell people are not at home as you go from house to house,” said La Vergne Neighborhood Watch member Gwen Anthony.
“That’s why it’s important for us to get out here and ride around.”
Anthony urged neighbors to avoid approaching anyone or anything that appears out of place, especially cars.
“In a situation like that, you stop and you write that tag number down,” said Anthony.
Neighbors, children and police in La Vergne will meet at Veterans Park Tuesday night from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Food, games and a softball game are all planned.
