SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Tennessee attorney was arrested and accused of stealing from an estate in which he was serving as an executor.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says they began investigation Don Cooper in November 2015 and found he stole funds in excess of $10,000.
Those funds were from an estate in which the beneficiary was supposed to be the St. Judge Children’s Hospital, authorities reported.
On July 26, the Sullivan County grand jury charged Cooper with theft over $10,000.
He turned himself into jail on Thursday and has since been released on $15,000 bond.
Prior to the recent indictment, the TBI says cooper was indicted in April on one count of theft over $250,000. That charge was the result of the same investigation but involved the theft of property from a different estate.
