LEBANON, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man hospitalized after a three-car crash on Interstate 40 last weekend has died of his injuries.

Dean Dickson, 59, was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after the Saturday morning crash after 8:10 a.m.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, he was between a semi and Nissan Rogue travelling east between South Hartmann Drive and Murfreesboro Road when the crash happened.

A traffic report says the semi slowed due to utility work and rolling road blocks when the Nissan hit Dickson’s Honda Fit from behind.

The impact caused Dickson’s car to hit the semi then leave the road onto the right shoulder. He was seriously injured.

The Rogue, driven by David Cahan, also hit the semi as it continued driving before striking a cable barrier and stopping in the road.

Cahan, 44, was later cited with reckless driving, according to the THP. Neither he nor the driver of the semi was injured.

The traffic report indicates criminal charges are pending.
