6 injured in wrong-way crash on I-40 near downtown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Six people were injured in a head-on crash on Interstate 40 near downtown early Wednesday morning.

It happened just after midnight after a car got on the interstate going the wrong-way at Lafayette and Fourth Avenue.

The accident occurred a short time later when a man and woman in one of the cars struck another vehicle with four people inside near Second Avenue.

Some of the injuries are serious, police said.

Police are waiting on toxicology tests to see if the driver was under the influence.

No charges have been filed. Additional information was not released.
