Vacant home catches fire near downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Firefighters battled a house fire near downtown Nashville early Sunday morning.

Crews responded to a home on Claiborne Street just west of Lafayette Street around 1 a.m.

No one was living in the home when it caught fire. Neighbors tell firefighters the people living there left several weeks ago.

No firefighters were injured fighting the blaze.

Claiborne Street was closed from Lafayette Street to Trimble Street while crews worked to put out the flames.

No word on what caused the fire at this time.

No additional information was immediately released.
