Former Wilson County teacher arrested on 2 statutory rape charges

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former Wilson County teacher has been arrested on a rape charge.

Michael Shepard, 36, was taken into custody at his home Thursday night under a sealed indictment.

He has been charged with two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure.

Shepard was a math teacher at Wilson Central High School and a coach for the girls’ softball team.

Last week, he was fired from his position and turned in his resignation after parents made allegations against Shepard concerning a student.

Shepard had been with the Wilson County school district since 2009.

He was booked into the Wilson County jail on $25,000 bond.
