TBI: Woman stole over $30K from Sparta church

SPARTA, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Middle Tennessee woman is accused of stealing more than $30,000 from a church in Sparta.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Angela Wyatt, 56, embezzled the funds from First Baptist Church while she worked there as a secretary.

The TBI began investigating Wyatt on March 10. The bureau reported Wyatt was the individual responsible for the theft of more than $30,000 in funds from the church.

Wyatt is no longer employed by the church.

She was charged with theft over $10,000 and booked into the White County jail on Tuesday. Her bond was set at $35,000.
