Man charged after motorcyclist killed in suspected hit-and-run crash

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A motorcyclist was killed in a suspected hit-and-run collision in Clarksville early Saturday morning.

It happened near the intersection of Tiny Town Road and Cainlo Drive around 5 a.m.

Clarksville police reported an officer found the motorcyclist, identified as 29-year-old Jeremy Halstead, after the crash and was unable to find a pulse.

Halstead was pronounced dead at Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville.

Officers reportedly detained a driver of a red truck believed to be involved with the crash at another location.

That man, 24-year-old Joseph Karnes, is charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and vehicular homicide.

Clarksville police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Test results are pending from a blood draw done by search warrant.
