NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Rory Feek, of country duo Joey and Rory, is celebrating his late wife and their wedding anniversary by releasing a documentary in her honor.
Rory has documented his family’s journey over the past two and a half years with photos and videos, including his wife’s long battle with cancer and her untimely death in March.
He said he made the decision to begin documenting their lives in January 2014 after he and Joey decided to take a year off from music as they were just weeks away from welcoming their daughter Indiana.
“Joey and I didn’t know why we were taking a year off and simplifying our lives. Or why we had felt like it was important to capture that part of our life on film. We just did it,” Rory wrote on his blog.
The hundreds of hours of video footage have now been turned into a documentary, “To Joey, With Love.” It’ll be shown for two nights only on Sept. 20 and Oct. 6.
“So with the help of some friends, I am going to try to give her a gift that is pretty much impossible… to live on even after she’s gone,” Rory wrote on his blog.
The country singer says the 90-minute film focuses on their lives, love, struggles and faith in God. The couple married on June 15, 2002.
