NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A burglary suspect was arrested after leading officers on a chase through Nashville late Thursday night.
It began when an officer stopped the man because he was a suspect in several car break-ins at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital around 11 p.m.
The suspect stopped for police but then reportedly used his vehicle to ram into a patrol car before driving away.
The officer was not injured but his patrol car was damaged.
The man was spotted a short time later near Clarksville Pike and Briley Parkway. Authorities said he led officers on a slow-speed chase through several neighborhoods.
Officers used spike strips in an attempt to stop the suspect but he kept driving on the car’s rims, according to police.
The suspect got onto Interstate 65 North at Rosa L. Parks Boulevard and finally stopped his vehicle just after the I-24 split.
Multiple patrol cars responded as the interstate was briefly closed and a police helicopter and K-9 officers assisted in the arrest in case the suspect attempted to flee again.
He was taken into custody just before 1 a.m.
The suspect’s identity was not immediately released. Police said he will be charged with several offenses, including felony evading arrest and aggravated assault on an officer.
