Officials identify man killed in crash on I-40 in Dickson County

DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Officials have identified the man who was killed in a crash on Interstate 40 in Dickson County.

Jesse Butts, who is the son of Hickman County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy CJ Butts, died in the accident, which occurred at mile marker 172 shortly after 4 p.m. Friday.

According to Lt. Bill Miller with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, three tractor trailers and three cars were involved in the crash.

One of the tractor trailers was carrying acid, which leaked onto the road. Officials used lime to clean up the area.

All lanes of I-40 near mile marker 172 were closed, but the eastbound lanes reopened around 5:30 p.m. Friday. The westbound lanes reopened to traffic around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

No cause for the crash has been released.
