NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Nashville community came together to remember two men murdered outside their home earlier this week.
A candlelight vigil was held Saturday night on Bessie Avenue in the Katie Hill community. That’s where Keon Hawkins and his stepson Kemontanez Armstrong were shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire Wednesday.
A pastor was present to comfort their family, and balloons were released in the victims’ honor.
Hawkins was the father of Keon Malone, who was 11 years old when he was shot in the head by a stray bullet in the same neighborhood in March 2015.
Police said Wednesday’s shooting was not random, but no motive has been released.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
