MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police are investigating after a man was seen in a grocery story taking pictures up a woman’s dress.
It happened Monday at the Publix on Memorial Boulevard in Murfreesboro.
Sirena Bragg says she was shopping after work while talking on her phone.
A witness approached and said he saw another man on the floor, taking pictures up her skirt.
“He said, ‘Ma’am, there was a man who was squatting underneath you and was taking pictures underneath your skirt,’” said Bragg. “I had a knee-length, professional dress on. And he had his phone under my dress.”
Before anyone could call police, the suspect ran out of the store and got away.
According to a police report, a Murfreesboro police officer reviewed the in-store surveillance footage.
The footage shows a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inces tall with a slender build. He was bald with facial hair.
It showed the man following Bragg closely on the dairy aisle, looking over his shoulder to see if anyone was watching him.
When the aisle cleared, the suspect got on the floor and was taking pictures up the victim’s dress.
“It makes me angry more than anything,” Bragg told News 2. “It also makes me feel very protective against others that this may happen to that it might really traumatize them.”
Bragg is a victim in this case, but professionally she’s a victim advocate. She works as a sociologist for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
She said it’s concerning that a deviant person is escalating into criminal behavior.
“It’s okay to have impulses and thoughts. And there’s plenty of people who would consent to showing you their panties, probably for the right amount. And there’s tons of it on the internet. But when you go out in public you have crossed the line and it’s not okay then.”
Police are investigating a similar incident at another store in Murfreesboro.
A man was seen taking pictures up women’s skirts at the Kohl’s on Old Fort Parkway over the weekend.
It’s not clear if the same suspect is responsible for both crimes.
