NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The funeral for the Vanderbilt University baseball pitcher who drowned last week was held Tuesday.
Donnie Everett’s funeral was held at Faith Outreach Church in Clarksville at 4 p.m. He was buried at Sango Cemetery.
Everett, a Clarksville native, drowned Thursday night while fishing with two teammates and two other friends at Normandy Lake in Coffee County.
During his baseball career, Everett earned a number of accomplishments including the 2015 Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year and District Pitcher of the Year.
“He was a giant figure to a lot of kids and certainly a giant figure to our players. He was larger than life in a lot of different ways. He was just a huge, huge positive life force that you get every so often,” Vanderbilt baseball Coach Tim Corbin said.
The Vanderbilt baseball team served as pallbearers.
Everett is survived by his parents and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Everett’s honor at any branch of US Bank or to a charity of choice.
