NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A veteran who laid his life on the line during the Vietnam War was honored at a Nashville church Sunday.
First Baptist Church Nashville held a special ceremony for Gary Beikirch. U.S. Congressman Jim Cooper was in attendance and gave an opening speech.
Beikirch received a Medal of Honor for his bravery at the battle at Camp Dak Seang.
During the fight, he exposed himself to intense fire in order to rescue and treat wounded soldiers.
Beikirch also suffered serious wounds during the battle.
