ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) – A driver reportedly seen speeding on Interstate 24 later crashed at an Antioch intersection early Sunday morning.
It happened at the intersection of Hobson Pike and Hamilton Church Road around 2 a.m.
Police said they received calls of a speeding and swerving driver matching the vehicle’s description on the interstate.
Medics later found the car crashed at the intersection after the driver struck a mailbox before landing in a culvert on the other side of the road, according to police.
The driver was trapped under the dashboard, forcing emergency workers to use specialized tools to free him.
He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.
No additional information was immediately released.
