PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two people died Friday afternoon after a motorcycle and Jeep Wrangler crashed on Interstate 40 in Putnam County.
The accident shut down all eastbound lanes near East Spring Street just outside of Cookeville between mile markers 290 and 292.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Harley Davidson motorcycle was following the Jeep improperly.
The Jeep reportedly began slowing down due to traffic congestion when the motorcycle hit it from behind after being unable to stop.
The two people riding the motorcycle, David and Kendra Hill, of Lebanon, were killed. A report from the THP says each was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Jeep was uninjured. No charges will be filed.
