Franklin officer injured in crash while en route to separate accident

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Franklin police officer was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Williamson County Friday afternoon while en route to a separate accident.

It happened just after 12:15 p.m. as another driver unexpectedly veered into the officer’s lane on East McEwen Drive near Players Mill Road.

According to a release, the officer was traveling eastbound on McEwen Drive with her lights and sirens on when another driver crested the hill, lost control of their vehicle and swerved into the officer’s lane, hitting the squad car.

At the time of the accident, the officer was on her way to assist two motorists who were injured in another nearby crash.

The officer, who has not been named, was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle who struck the officer’s car is facing multiple charges, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
