NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man has been arrested after police say he fled a traffic stop and then crashed his car into the parking lot of a Taco Bell in Madison.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. at the corner of Due West Avenue and Gallatin Pike.
The man crashed into a water pipe on the restaurant’s property, causing water to shoot up in the air and flow into the street for hours.
Officers on scene identified the suspect as 51-year-old Darrell McCaulley and said he did not have a license.
According to police, McCaulley had run a stop light on Due West Ave and an officer initiated a traffic stop.
McCaulley reportedly sped away and the officer decided not to pursue him.
A short time later, the officer came upon McCaulley’s wrecked car.
Three passengers who were in the car fled the scene of the accident but are not expected to face charges.
A sergeant on scene said McCaulley would be charged with evading arrest and driving without a license.
Darrell McCaulley has been charged with evading arrest, criminal impersonation, failure to report an accident, and driving on a revoked license. His bond has been set at $15,000.
The Taco Bell is expected to reopen around 4 p.m.
