NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The summer blockbusters are just beginning and Mix 92.9’s movie expert Clint Redwine said there are a lot of options for cheap movies this summer starting with the cheapest, free!

Many of Nashville Public Library locations from Downtown to Hermitage and all over have free movies, at least one a day. Click here for more information.

There are two free movies in the park series, first there is Elmington Park on Thursday nights at sundown and Pinkerton Park in Franklin several Fridays during the summer starting at 8.

He also gave us the rundown for the next best option, very cheap!

Several theaters have summer movie series during the day.

Regal Theaters show summer movies for $1Malco shows movies during the day for $2 and Carmike is showing summer movies for $4.

The movies are usually G and PG and good movies like Despicable Me 2 and the Lego Movie.

Grassy Knoll Movie Night over in East Nashville is $5, but if you bring a canned good for Second Harvest its $4. Their movie nights are every third Sunday of the month.

Zoovies at the Zoo are free for members but if you’re not a member it’s $6.

Nashville Shores has their dive-in movies. You just have to pay for admission to the park.

All options show newer movies like Star Wars and Inside Out. But if you still want to see the movies out in theaters now, here’s how you can still save.

“I highly recommend joining the memberships for the different theaters. You’ve got the Regal membership, you’ve got the Carmike membership,” says Redwine. “Over time those are going to save you money because as you accumulate points you’ll be able to get free popcorn, free drinks, free movies.”

Redwine also said going to a matinee of course will cost you about half of what it would be to go to an evening movie.

And you always want to make sure you check out the theaters deals on concessions. A lot of people miss out on those and he says they are good deals.
