NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 27-year-old man was killed in a crash in south Nashville Monday afternoon.
According to a release, James Cloninger was riding a 2016 Suzuki motorcycle on Thompson Lane, near Eugenia Avenue, when he reportedly passed a van at a high rate of speed around 2:30 p.m.
Police said, due to his speed, Cloninger was unable to avoid colliding with a 2002 GMC Yukon that was pulling a trailer and was attempting to make a left turn onto Eugenia Avenue.
According to police, Cloninger attempted to brake but lost control of his motorcycle just prior to the accident.
Cloninger died at the scene and police say speed played a role in the crash.
