PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN)  – The 75th annual Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival in Portland will go on as planned despite recent flooding.

Earlier this week, heavy rain caused high water in the area.

Sumner County EMA conducted at least 12 water rescues Wednesday.

Ralph Cook with Bottom View Farms told News 2 they lost some strawberries because of the heavy rain, but they still have a lot to offer.

“We still got a good crop of strawberries. It was one of the best years we’ve ever had in a long tim. The plants just loaded with strawberries and of course we’re gonna lose a lot of them from the big rain, but we still got lots of strawberries.”

Saturday’s Strawberry Festival will include a parade, concert and fireworks.
