ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL)- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released new video Saturday of a missing 9-year-old.
The footage shows Carlie Trent and her uncle by marriage, Gary Simpson, shopping at a Rogersville grocery store shortly after she went missing. If you’re on a mobile device, click here to see the video.
The TBI also announced that a new reward is being offered for Carlie’s safe return.
On Saturday, her pediatrician, Dr. Chris Calendine, told authorities that he will offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to the safe recovery of the child.
He was planning to use the money for a boat but said he would rather it go toward the search effort.
News 2 spoke with Dr. Calendine Saturday. He said he was hoping that Carlie would have been found by now.
“I think every kid is worth it whether it’s the kid from Rogersville, Tennessee, or the kid from Nashville. That kid deserves for everyone in the nation to hear they need help right now., and they need to get home,” he explained.
On Friday, the United States Marshals Service announced that they were offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to Carlie and the capture of Simpson.
A Middle and East Tennessee AMBER Alert issued by the TBI on behalf of the Rogersville Police Department remains in effect for the 9-year-old. On May 4, Simpson removed her from school under false pretenses. He currently has no custodial rights to her.
TBI agents and intelligence analysts continue to work to validate more than 100 tips received since issuing the AMBER Alert Thursday morning.
Police say there have been no credible sightings of Carlie, Simpson, or the van investigators believe the two may be traveling in.
Though their whereabouts are currently unknown, investigative efforts suggest they may be out of public view and in an isolated area, such as a campground or park.
Carlie is 4 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 75 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black and gray tank top shirt with blue jeans.
Simpson is a 57-year-old white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 157 pounds. He is balding and has brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown cap, a dark colored shirt and jeans.
He was also last seen driving a white 2002 Dodge Conversion Van with TN registration 173GPS.
The van has a dark stripe down the middle with light gold running boards and paint is chipping off of the hood.
Any and all tips are encouraged in this case. If you have seen the child, subject or vehicle, please call the Rogersville Police Department at 423-272-7555 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
