Police: Homeless man stabs 3 men in self-defense on Lower Broad

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Three people were stabbed by a homeless man on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville early Friday morning.

Metro police say witnesses reported the homeless man was jumped during an altercation around 1:30 a.m. and pulled a knife in self-defense.

Security camera footage reportedly appears to corroborate the witness accounts.

The three men, ages 21, 24, and 26, received non-critical injuries and were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

Police say the homeless man, who is known to the other men, ran from the area and has yet to be located for an interview.

Officers tracked droplets of blood from the scene to the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Jefferson Street where the trail stopped.

He is described as a heavyset black man with a bald head who was wearing a brown Carhart jacket.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
