NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Titans selected Michigan State offense of tackle Jack Conklin with the eighth overall pick of the NFL Draft Thursday night.
The Titans traded the 15th pick of the draft plus a third round pick this year and a second round pick next year to move up to eighth with the Cleveland Browns.
Conklin says he’s excited to join the team.
“After my visit down in Tennessee, I fell in love with the coaching staff,” he said.
Conklin is also looking forward to being teammates with Marcus Mariota, whom he played against in college. “Having him on my side now, you couldn’t ask for a better quarterback.”
Conklin is expected to play right tackle for the Titans with Taylor Lewan staying on the left side.
He was a walk-on out of high school but became a Big 10 superstar at Michigan State, earning All-American honors.
Some projected the Titans to pick Conklin 15th overall, but reports surfaced that the New York Giants were interested, which prompted the trade.
