NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – For the first time in franchise history the Predators have won a game 7 to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Colin Wilson provided the opening goal of the game for his 5th point of the playoff series as the Preds jumped out to an early lead.
Later in the first period it was a Shea Weber slap shot and Paul Gaustad on the re-direct to give the Predators a 2-0 lead after the first two periods of play.
After a late penalty in the 2nd period Ryan Kesler cut the Preds lead to 1 with a power play goal a minute and 45 seconds into the 3rd period.
But the Preds defense was stout and Pekka Rinne put up a wall the remainder of the game chalking up 36 saves including several in the final minutes to give the Preds a 2-1 win.
The Predators face the San Jose Sharks Friday in game one of the second round.
