NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Children with parents who serve in the military were honored Sunday by the American Red Cross of Nashville Area.

Military Kids Serve Too was held at the Well Placed Smile in Nashville.

During the event, the kids played games, watched a performance by Wynonna Judd, and received a customized coin commemorating their special designation as young patriots.

Gov. Bill Haslam has declared April as the Month of the Military Child in Tennessee. It’s aimed at recognizing the contribution military children make as their parent or guardian serves the country.

Sunday’s event was one of many efforts taking place this month to celebrate military children across the state.
