Clarksville police search for fraud suspect who took $7K from bank

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Clarksville police are searching for a fraud suspect accused of withdrawing $7,000 from a bank.

The incident occurred after a man reported that his wallet was lost at the Cracker Barrel in Smyrna.

On March 23, a man walked into the Capital Bank on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard in Clarksville with a Tennessee driver’s license with the victim’s name on it.

He then proceeded to withdraw $7,000.

Officials say the suspect had the correct account number and produced a signature that looked similar to the victim’s signature.

He was reportedly calm throughout the interaction with the teller and did not appear to be nervous.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 60 to 70-years-old. He was wearing a black, brown and gray striped pullover and a black hat at the time of the crime.
