Police searching for truck possibly involved with trailer theft

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police are searching for a truck possibly involved in the theft of a trailer early Wednesday morning.

An officer spotted a white GMC Sierra towing a trailer believed to be stolen on Bell Road near Smith Springs Road around 1 a.m.

The trailer wasn’t fully hooked up and was dragging on the ground, causing sparks to fly.

When the officer tried to pull the truck over, the driver did not stop and the trailer fell off.

The truck was later spotted near Stewarts Ferry Pike where officer deployed a spike strip in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

At least two of the truck’s tires were flattened but the truck entered Interstate 40 and eventually disappeared.

Officers followed marks left by the truck driving on rims but have not yet located the vehicle.
