A private security company was hired to protect the work zone.

According to a news release, a driver leaving the nearby Yorktown Subdivision turned right onto Murfreesboro Road and hit a passing trailer.

The trailer was forced into the worker, who was knocked underneath the AT&T truck, seriously injuring him.
