News 2 wins top website, sportscaster at AP awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – WKRN.com and News 2’s Cory Curtis earned top honors at the 2016 Tennessee Associated Press broadcast awards Saturday night.

The Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors held the ceremony at the Nashville Marriott to recognize work from journalists across the state.

An estimated 120 web, print and broadcast journalists from across Tennessee attended the ceremony, presented by The Associated Press and Middle Tennessee State University’s School of Journalism.

WKRN.com was awarded Best Website in the large-market television division.

Cory Curtis won Best TV Sportscaster. Curtis first came to News 2 in 2003 and has earned five Regional Emmy awards for his roles in Sports Extra and Monday Night Live with Jeff Fisher.

“This Week with Bob Mueller” took third place in the Public Affairs division, along with Anne Holt’s “Tennessee Black History” earning an honorable mention.

News 2 photo journalist Scott Mottern received an honorable mention for Best TV News Videographer.

The event awarded the best work from 2015.
