Police: Franklin man gets 2nd DUI after nearly hitting mom, child

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Franklin man was charged with his second DUI after police say he nearly hit a mother and her child in a neighborhood crosswalk.

As an officer was responding to the subdivision around 5 p.m. Sunday, Franklin police say the driver nearly lost control in front of her.

According to a press release, 21-year-old Elijah Dearman nearly collided with the officer’s squad car.

Dearman is accused of ignoring the officer’s lights and sirens for about half a mile until he pulled over.

Franklin police said the officer determined Dearman was impaired and arrested him.

He was charged with DUI second offense and driving on a revoked license. The 21-year-old was booked into the Williamson County jail on $4,000.

Dearman is due in court April 14 at 1 p.m.
